If you only buy one Greek cookbook, I can thoroughly recommend “The Olive & the Caper: Adventures in Greek Cooking”, By Susanna Hoffman. I love it for several reasons; I love her abiding passion for Greece & Greek cuisine. She is a scholar of Greece who has spent huge amounts of time learning how to cook from the many old women who carry Greek cooking in their soul. I also love all the little stories, that accompany many of the recipes, about Greece & about her cooking companions. Lastly there are very few glossy photos of food. They don’t really add to the book, & for me, these photos are a waste of space.
